The culmination of a 5-year writing project.

As some people might know, I used to be heavily involved with the Armchair General website and magazine. I’m still officially on the staff, but I don’t do a lot for them these days.

5 years ago, amongst writing other articles (about 100 all told) and editing of other submissions as well as running their forums (with over 15,000 members at that time), I started writing The Incorrect Art of War with Jim Moreno – a humorous (usually) monthly series featuring a version of Doctor Sinister and his long-suffering sidekick General Menace as they struggled with barmy military concepts to take over the world and teach a little bit of military history along the way.

The only thing was, I never finished the series off, until now.

Back in July I wrote episode 38, the finale, and it’s just been run on the website. You can read it here.

I hope you enjoy it. Some of it may not make sense unless you read a few of the earlier episodes, there were a lot of running gags in the series, and I even immortalised my cats in the series after they had died.

There was a major story arc in the middle of the run, which included a trip for Dr. S. to the USA (coincidentally at the same time as THIS particular Dr. S. was there!) after the apparent utter destruction of his original base of operations, but generally each episode featured a money-rich but slightly thick and utterly bemused Doctor Sinister trying to get his head around military concepts. The Christmas specials were always fun to write as well, and one was a spoof on the film “It’s a Wonderful Life”.

It’s sad to see it finish but I’m also glad to be able to give it a proper, fitting ending.

Dr. S.
