LEGOLAND Windsor, 2009 Season.
Posted by Doctor Sinister on March 20th, 2009 filed in Brickish, Events, LEGO, Life, ShoppingI toddled along to LLW today for their passholder’s preview day – a day off work for me and a chance to catch up with other members of the BA.
It was a glorious day as far as the weather was concerned, and the shop had loads of new cool stuff – I bought a little but I felt I was actually quite restrained generally. However I subsequently discovered that the LLW shops now have a 20% BA discount! That’s an increase on the normal 10% for LLW passholders.
We attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the new land, Kingdom of the Pharaohs, basically the old Brickadilly’s Circus Tent tarted up and with some rides added. The main ride is like a Ghost Train with guns – you basically shoot skeletons with a hairdryer-type gun, very enjoyable except I didn’t really fit in the car. I wenr around the ride with Jonathan Goldsworthy who kept me entertained.
The ride was opened by none-other than the Egyptian Ambassador to the UK, although I understand it was because he was late that the opening was delayed by 30 minutes, but if you can’t be late being an Ambasssador, when can you?
Only one small downside to the day, when a vocal BA member referred (several times) to my “Vote Sinister” badge as “gay”. “GAY”? Is the guy still living in the 1970’s? Bit of an outmoded insult isn’t it? Anyway, I smiled politely.
Here’s the exclusive LEGO brick given to the first 2,500 people into the park. I was literally about the 5th person in!
