CREATION - AGGRESSOR CLASS MAIN BATTLE TANK

Aggressor evolution...

Following my construction of the Triumph Class LAVs, I decided Tabletown needed something heavier to engage the enemy forces of BestLockLand, and so here we are!

This is the Sinister Industries Aggressor Class MBT (Main Battle Tank). Weighing in at 65 metric tons, the Aggressor is designed for one purpose and one purpose alone- to dominate any battlefield by engaging and destroying enemy armour. It performs this task superbly, and can even be used for secondary tasks, such is its versatility, but more of that later...

Aggressor

Yes, again I'm using parts almost exclusively from set 7992 - the Container Stacker. Well, I like the green! This time, I've used pieces from two of those sets, plus a sprinkling of other bits for the usual greebling etc. I actually took apart two of my Triumph LAV's to build this monster - but don't worry, the parts are on order to restore my LAV Platoon to its full strength of four vehicles very soon.

As you can see from the picture below, the Aggressor hugs the ground very tightly, but it has variable-height suspension to cope with bumpy rides.

Aggressor

The Aggressor is equipped with a single 200-megajoule electro-magnetic rail gun capable of engaging targets with accuracy over a distance of up to five miles (assuming the target is visible of course). The gun features a central core which handles any recoil within the main housing and which can be swapped out for a new core in a matter of minutes by skilled engineers, although this is obviously not possible in the field.

Aggressor

The Aggressor features a heavy-duty turret mounted on a low-chassis and carries thick armour resistant to most types of modern projectile. The Aggressor is sealed against all NBC threats, although in the case of this MBT, crewmembers would only be able to survive for up to three days on board as the Aggressor's hungry power systems would soon deplete its batteries and fuel supply. The Aggressor can also ford rivers and operate for brief periods underwater.

Aggressor

As with the Triumph, dispersal vents at the rear of the main chassis ensure that the Aggressor maintains a low heat signature to prevent any enemy forces from locking on with infra-red guided weapons. Smaller vents allow the rail gun to cool. During battle, the cooling systems allows the Aggressor to fire up to six shots a minute with the main gun without detriment to accuracy or wear and tear to the equipment.

Aggressor

The Aggressor carries a single crewmember. This might seem surprising given the size and purpose of the vehicle, however the crewmember's main responsibility is to simply drive the vehicle and program generic target selections into the onboard computers based on the parameters of the given mission. Once these parameters have been set, the turret, main gun, secondary weapons systems and targeting systems are largely autonomous being computer controlled and robot operated. The crewman can of course override the systems at any time and a several fail-safe systems prevent the Aggressor from straying from its assigned mission or from countermanding the driver's orders. In the event of the death of the crewmember, the Aggressor will usually have standing orders to return to base, although it will self-destruct if this is not possible to prevent the technology falling into enemy hands. It can also receive new orders remotely.

Aggressor

Below the main gun you can see the optical targeting sensors - a primary, for the current target, and a secondary which performs both as a backup and which seeks new targets even while the main gun is firing.

Aggressor

As you can see here, the turret is fully rotatable - a full 360 degrees in fact without difficulty. To the left of the main gun, an anti-personnel machine gun is positioned to allow the Aggressor to sweep an area clear of enemy infantry. Heavy armour on the turret protects the important systems surrounding the main gun.

Aggressor

Here's a view straight down the barrel... The two round objects either side of the main gun are smoke and chaff dispensers to hide the Aggressor from enemy view.

Aggressor

A second machine gun facing directly forward is positioned next to the driver's position at the front of the main chassis.
